Here’s how to leverage the Year of the Yang Metal Rat to accumulate wealth, summon success, and free yourself from whatever has been holding you back.
The Year of the Rat officially begins Saturday, January 25th, 2020.
In addition to moving from the Year of the Pig to the Year of the Rat, we are transitioning out of a yin earth year and into a yang metal year. In other words, the metal element shows up for us this year in its active or masculine principle.
While the yin earth element that set the tone of the previous year was like a downhill slope of soft grass in summer, the yang metal element of the year ahead is like a very sharp knife, deftly cutting through distraction, deception, and delay.
The metal element is mind-oriented: focused and sharp. The rat is adventurous, success-seeking, curious, expansive, and prosperous. Together, the metal element and the rat year inspire us to focus on our career and finance-related goals.
The rat is known for his love freedom and of family. This year, we will feel motivated to free ourselves from inner and outer traps. We will also love to be around those we consider beloved family members, and we will be motivated to do whatever we can to support their happiness and health.
Here are 5 things you can do to maximize your chances of experiencing joy and attracting wonderful things in the Year of the Yang Metal Rat.
1. Make Finances Fun and Live the Sweet Life
The word “budgeting” is not generally associated with fun. But the Year of the Metal Rat reminds us that this need not be the case. When you become conscious of where your money is coming from and where it is going, you will also become empowered to establish habits and make choices that benefit you. And when you learn to take joy in this process, you will shift your vibration around money in such a way that you will begin to magnetize it much more easily and abundantly.
Everyone is different when it comes to budgeting. Some people prefer spreadsheets, some prefer notebooks, and some prefer apps. Take your time, do some research, and discover what feels right to you. If you don’t figure it out right away, that’s OK: just keep showing up and trying something new until you discover a system that works for you.
2. Clear Digital Clutter and Clear Your Mind
The metal element relates to technology as well as our mental faculties. Apps, programs, emails, photos, and files you no longer need on your computer or phone represent stories, thought patterns, and mental habits that are wasting your energy and holding you back. The same is true for social media accounts that take up a lot of your time without any sort of emotional payback.
By letting go of these things, you will come into greater harmony with the clean mental efficiency that is a hallmark of a yang metal year. You will also clear up extra mental space for the fresh perspectives and solutions that are among the many blessings of the naturally creative and inquisitive Year of the Rat.
3. Fix Broken Things and Streamline Your Time
If you own anything that’s broken, it’s generally a good feng shui rule of thumb to fix it immediately or let it go. When you pay special attention to this feng shui rule during the Year of the Rat, you will be rewarded with even greater clarity, efficiency, and focus. You will naturally eliminate hassles and create greater ease in your day-to-day activities.
The technology-oriented metal element will support you in fixing mechanical and electronic devices (or getting them fixed). The elegant rat will inspire you to patch up your old clothes or take them to the tailor. But if you don’t love or use something, try to go against the rat’s initial instinct to pack it away in your closet! Donate it or give it away instead.
4. Escape from Traps and Be Free
The wily and intelligent Year of the Metal Rat will assist us in assessing commitments, relationships, situations, and beliefs that are actings as traps by threatening our happiness or holding us back from being free. So this year, when a choice presents itself, look deeply at all sides of it. Commit to making choices that promote your personal freedom. Also be willing to let go of and extricate yourself from anything that isn’t supporting you in determining your own destiny and living the life you want.
5. Live Your Ideals and Be the Change You Wish to See
While the Year of the Yin Earth Pig taught us to relax and celebrate life, the Year of the Yang Metal Rat will inspire us to act in accordance with the causes we care about. (No judgment: both are important concerns!) So ask yourself: what positive changes do I want to see in the world? How do I want to support my community, my loved ones, and my family? And how can I align my actions with the world I want to see?
Think deeply and map out some concrete steps you can take and changes you can make in order to come even more into alignment with your ideals. Then move forward with intention. You are the one you’ve been waiting for. Put your love into action and be the change you wish to see.
