Here are nine offerings that will delight the magical nature spirits and plant devas.
When you leave an offering to the fairies, do so with love and open-hearted generosity.
After all, these are the beautiful beings who help our beloved planet to sparkle, shine, burgeon, and bloom.
Making an offering to the fairies will help draw more fairies to your yard or other outdoor area, while also sensitizing you to the magical realm of the fae.
Please note that if you’re leaving offerings in a park or natural setting, it’s a good idea to preface your gifting efforts by picking up and properly disposing of any trash that you see.
1. Beer or Champagne in Walnut Shells
If there are two things fairies love, they’re bubbles and a raucous party. Gift them with both by pouring tiny bits of beer or champagne in walnut shells and leaving them on a tree stump or near the base of a tree.
2. Organic Berries
Berries for fairies: they’re sweet, they’re colorful, and they’re size-appropriate. Select some ripe, seasonal, organic berries and place them on the earth in areas you imagine the fairies would like to congregate.
3. Birdseed
Birds are fae creatures, and as contributors to healthy ecosystems, they facilitate fairy-repopulation in areas where they thrive. That’s why a bird feeder near your home can be a bird magnet and fairy magnet in one. Or, sprinkle bits of birdseed in natural areas as a love offering to birds, Mother Nature, and the fae.
4. Crystals
As everyone knows, fairies love things that sparkle and shine. But crystals – big or small – are also attractive to the fae because of their high, clear, and positive vibrations.
5. Organic Rose Petals
Roses are said to have the highest and purest vibration of any living thing. As such, their fresh petals can help attract fairies and open the portal to the realm of the fae. Just be sure not to leave any with pesticides, as these will repel fairies rather than attract them.
6. Wildflower Seeds
Once you find seed packets of wildflowers that flourish in your area, scatter them in your yard, or reverently throw a few pinches into a natural setting. This will be a lovely gift to give the fairies, and one that keeps on giving. Once the flowers grow and bloom, they’ll draw even more beauty and life in the form of butterflies, bees, dragonflies, and moths.
7. Blessed Water
As every gardener knows, water is a lifeline for Mother Earth’s green and blossoming children. The same is true for all Her magical fairy inhabitants. Bless the water first by placing it in clear glass in bright sunshine and mentally filling it with love and positive energy. Then reverently pour it out onto the earth as a loving libation to the fairy folk.
8. Organic Mushrooms
Mushrooms are mysterious and magical beings: it’s no wonder fairies love them. While there are many different types of mushrooms in nature that are employed for many (many!) different spiritual, nutritional, medicinal, and environmental purposes, simply offering a few organic mushrooms from a local natural grocery store or farmer’s market is a beautiful way to let the fairies know you’re thinking of them.
9. Shiny Nickels or Dimes
In a pinch, you can always go through your change jar and select a few of the shiniest of the nickels and dimes. Like the fae creature known as the crow, fairies might try, but they simply can’t resist the coins’ round shape and radiant shine.

Did you gift the fairies with any of these offerings? How did it go? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
UPDATE: In response to some of the comments below, #5 was changed from chocolate chunks to rose petals due to concern for chocolate-sensitive creatures.
The chocolate can kill chipmunks and other mammals, not just dogs, so it seems unwise to include this in the list at all. Please reconsider. Thanks and best wishes–
Donnalee, thank you for your thoughtful comment! I have amended the caveat in the chocolate section.
It was sweet of you to try, but as it is, it’ll still kill them. Chipmunks live mostly underground, so dirt is not an obstable to them or to others like mice and voles. It’s just not a safe substance to put outside, even with best intentions. I was once at a pagan gathering where the chipmunks stole chocolate from a tent, and it was not good.
Raw organic sweet potatoes make my outside animals and invisibles happy–the deer eat it, and no one comes to harm from it.
best wishes
Tess, here, in south central Kentucky, I leave a small glass of whiskey out for the fae I share this land with. Yes, they are shameless thieves, but they’ve been toning that down a bit lately, because my lady love read them the riot act to leave her special smoking herb alone. But, they really do like that sippin’ stuff, especially when it is Irish rye, no matter the quality. They like Tullimore Dew, but settle for something a bit cheaper, but they like it. And I also share with my Lord and Lady, as well, as they have been very helpful these many years they’ve been with me.
Max, I love it! Thank you for sharing. 🙂
Hello!
I “happened across” this site/page, and I’m SO glad I did! How very refreshing and inspiring it is, to find other humans who know about the Fae!! I mean, know that they ACTUALLY EXIST!
What I need help with, however, is this: I desire SO MUCH, to SEE THEM!! For most of my life, I’ve been drawn to faeiry art and books. My son is an artist and I’m constantly asking him to draw winged faeries for me. (Which he does, and quite beautifully, I might add.) I also realize it’s THEIR decision, whether or not to make themselves visible. But… is there SOME way, other than offering the gifts you’ve described, to help convince them I’m a safe and worthy human? (Also, I saw the comments about the chocolate, so I’ll be sure and leave one of the other offerings, instead.)
Thanks SO much, in advance, for any help you might provide. I REALLY appreciate you, and the info you’ve made available.
Janice, so glad you like the site and post – thank you! I have not personally seen fairies with my physical eyes, but I believe that the more you resonate with the vibration of helping and supporting the planet, the more trustworthy you will appear to the fae. So in a nutshell (no pun intended), I suggest making whatever changes you can to your behavior and personal habits to be more eco-friendly and gentler to all beings and the planet.
Hello have you opened up your third eye are you going through a Spiritual Awakening? these things can help you see the fairy Realm. One thing to know is that they know your heart and know if you truly believe in them. If your heart is filled with love and good intention I don’t see why they wouldn’t show themselves to you. Also a good tip is like the site says leave them a respectable gift and say it out loud say this is a gift to you fairy friends! That’s what I say best of luck!
Green Tea! And pennies :))
They like shiny things such as: rhinestones, gemstones that sparkle, or sparkly jewelry. When I was a teen I left a shiny ring. It was happily accepted and had disappeared. Just make sure your animals won’t eat them.
actually, most metals are poisonous to the fey. just avoid metal altogether, it will anger them. i have had this experience myself making good intentioned offerings when i did not know better. metal-free shows them respect. make sure your offering will not hurt the ecosystem you are leaving it in. the sweet potato suggestion is a good one. i was very conflicted when i started making offerings because i could not foresee the potential ecological impacts and how to measure them because there isn’t much written on it that i can find. i offer eggs in a river to the Gaulish healing Goddess Sirona. i offer crystals to the dead and to Her. there is a dire need IMHO for pagan companies to provide creative, sustainable, ecologically safe to leave offerings for Pagans. offerings are a fundamental part of our religion. because we do not believe the world of matter and nature is “fallen” like abrahamics do, it makes more sense to us to include offerings with prayers. May Sirona bless you!
Every time I sense or see the fairies I want to give more to them to show my appreciation. I came here to see if there was anything else to be inspired by. What a wonderful list. So far I have been giving cut up strawberries in a little shell, seeds, making sure to care for the hummingbirds, keeping the rooms clutter free as they like to be inside my house too. I have always wondered why I am gifted dimes! Now I see they are saying thank you! Dimes seem to pop out of no where with quite a clanging tinkling sound! I love it. I play music for them. Just recently planted sage, a few purple flowers with a beautiful scent, and freshened up the home with some burning sweet grass. Just as we were headed to bed my husband spotted a fairy darting out low to the ground in a flurry out to our living room for the evening from our back bedroom. Very ethereal smooth shadowed 4 inch ball of fluff he described. I usually see them as balls of light and fresh wind indoors. They sometimes land on my arms when I’m snuggled up with the cat. I try to say thank you often and the best thanks so far is when I make conscious changes to being more eco friendly in daily small ways.
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Hi Tess! Thanks for the extra ideas for leavings.
I was so excited when I saw the picture at the top. It’s by a much overlooked Australian artist called Ida Rentoul Outhwaite, who painted the most exquisite fairies. It made me so happy to see her work on your page.
Jacqui, wonderful! Yes, I love this image too.
Last night to celebrate Beltane, I left 6 walnut shells filled with Sam Adams Summer Ale (thought that was appropriate), Black Seedless Grapes, Nut & Fruit Mix Birdseed and 3 shiny dimes!! Bet they had a heck of a party!! It was sooo fun…thanks for the inspiration Tess!! 🙂
Oh fun! Yay. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
Hey! A fae gave me a 5 leaves clover and I don’t know to thank them without saying “thank you” what can I offer them for their kindness?
Any of these offerings.
Hi,
I was searching for some type of offering because my daughter has informed me that I probably have fairies in my home.
Almost 2 months ago my black bra (!) went missing and last week my black gloves disappeared. I put these items in only a couple places, its not like I could lose them by forgetting where I put them. The missing bra puzzle was starting to make me angry. I have searched absolutely everywhere … even in the car! And now my gloves. Its winter and cold and I need them when driving.
So my daughter thinks its fairies and when I would have thought this was cute and even funny, I don’t find it funny anymore. I want my bra and gloves back.
Would an offering help that, do you think? Someone mentioned they put out whiskey, so maybe I will do that. I don’t have beer or Champaign. Why in the world would they steal a bra??
Thanks
DJ
DJ, I’m not sure it’s fairies. I suggest the silver cord spell from this post: https://tesswhitehurst.com/my-go-to-spells-for-finding-lost-objects/
Hello, I like fairies very much and I really believe that they are, in fact, existing beings. But I am an urban being and I will hardly have contact with any fairy in my life. Because of this I have a very silly question: Are they tinkerbell-like beings with wings?
Fairies are the conscious aliveness of nature: the spirits of plants, animals, insects, and trees, and also the invisible consciousness that inhabits the elements. Some of them may appear to you as tiny fairies with wings, but not all.
I oftentimes, particularly this time of year when I’m making fruitcakes, put out candied ginger for my fairies. They love it!
Ooh, great tip! Thank you.
think a fairy lives in my house I found one of my play coins wedged in a crack in my floor next to a wall.
