DIY Feng Shui, Part 19: The Cross-Bagua

Tess Whitehurst-DIY Feng ShuiIn my work as a feng shui consultant and intuitive counselor, I have learned that there are two big topics that come up again and again: love and money. And, as you may know, there are areas of your home that correspond to each – known in common parlance as “the relationship corner” and “the money corner,” and known to many feng shui enthusiasts as “the love and marriage section” and “the wealth and prosperity section.”

(If you don’t already know where each area falls in your home, check out this post.)

But what you may or may not know is that each of these areas has a supporting area, or an area that helps support and nourish the energies associated with it in a less direct, yet more holistic/underlying way. In other words, it can often be more effective to work with the supporting area rather than to work with the area itself. Below, I’ll guide you through how to do just that.

First of all, for those of you most concerned with manifesting wealth and abundance, the wealth corner is supported by the helpful people and travel (synchronicity) corner. This supporting area (which is also an important primary area in its own right) has to do with all forms of help in the seen and unseen worlds. It also has to do with being in the right place at the right time, things flowing smoothly and harmoniously for you, and being in alignment with divine orchestration. To enhance this area in your home, check out this post. To enhance this area in your life, frequently call on divine helpers of your choice that feel powerful for you: i.e. angels, deities, and ascended masters. Also do your best to be a helpful person to others by donating to or volunteering for causes that you care about and being willing to help out friends, family, and strangers in ways that feel authentic to you (in other words, don’t do anything out of guilt or obligation, just a true desire to serve).

And for those of you most concerned with your primary romantic relationship (healing a current one, releasing one that’s no longer for your and your partner’s truest good, or manifesting a new one), the romance corner is supported by the knowledge/self-cultivation (serenity) corner. This area has to do with all forms of self-improvement: exercise, study, meditation, and a sense of inner stillness and spacious consciousness. To enhance this area in your home, check out this post. To enhance this area in your life, study the things that interest you, begin or continue a meditation practice, and get in the habit of exercising regularly in a way that you like. All of these will have lovely benefits in and of themselves, and will have the added benefit of making you more magnetic and open to an ideal romantic situation.

For more ways to work manifestation magic with the subtle alchemy of the bagua, check out my book, The Art of Bliss.

My husband and daughter do not believe in Fueng shui. They love mess, clutter and insist on blocking the front door with their piles of shoes. I can’t even get in and out if my house and open the door all the way. I have been picking up after everyone and trying to repair all the damage and mess in the house. My kitchen sink is literally sinking down due to the particle board being old and rotted. My bathroom sinks also particle board. We live in a apartment where we have rules about the colors we are allowed to paint ex: front door and walls must be white. My stove also has one missing burner due to it being old and damaged. My washing machine died of overuse. Despite all these exasperating financial hardships I have not lost hope and continue to dream of being able to fix my house. I am working on finding my way , my entire life I’ve been searching for something. I have been healing my elderly parents , my older sister, her husband, the homeless cats near by our hills. My husband and I are not really handy DIY types either. Financially we are barely making ends meet. My daughter starts college this fall. So many dreams , I am so hopeful for my daughter. Sorry for rambling on. Thank you for your beautiful articles and the light and hope you bring to the world.🐈

Hi Tess, my apartment is missing the knowledge/self-cultivation corner and the romance corner, as well as part of creativity. I have tried several remedies but my relationships still breaking up after a few days /weeks. What should I do?

I suggest reading The Art of Bliss and working with the info in the Serenity and Romance chapters, as well as the Appendix about how to remedy missing corners. I hope this helps – keep me posted! 🙂
