Here are some fun and simple ways to celebrate the Summer Solstice.
Midsummer—also known as the Summer Solstice or Litha—is the sun’s most glorious moment: the longest day and the shortest night of the year. It’s one of the most sacred turnings on the Wheel of the Year, when solar magic is at its peak and the world shimmers with golden possibility.
But as the sun blazes at full strength, something quietly shifts. The wheel turns. The days, having stretched to their brightest, begin to shorten once again. The fiery power of the sun meets the nurturing waters of Cancer season. Light and dark intertwine. Expansion and retreat do a dance.
This potent moment holds the energies of radiance, abundance, sensuality, vitality, and love.
And while full-day rituals and outdoor celebrations are wonderful (if you have the time!), sometimes a little magic is all you need. Here are five of my favorite little ways to connect with the magic of the Summer Solstice —no bonfire or flower crown required.
1. Wear Gold Sequins or Glitter
The Summer Solstice is all about sparkle and shine. Gold is the color of solar magic—radiant, lucky, bold, and alive. Channel the sun’s brilliance by wearing something gold, shimmery, or sequined. Even just a dab of golden eyeshadow or a single fingernail of glittery polish can act as a charm for joy and confidence.
2. Bring Sunflowers Into Your Space
Sunflowers are Midsummer embodied. They literally follow the sun as it crosses the sky—how magical is that? Bringing them into your home is like inviting a little piece of sunlight indoors. Place a vase in your entryway, kitchen, or altar to welcome solar energy, cheerfulness, and growth.

3. Empower an Orange in the Sun, Then Eat It
Oranges are little edible suns—sweet, juicy, and bursting with vitality. Hold one in the sunlight, and take a moment to silently call in solar energy: strength, health, warmth, abundance. Then peel and eat it slowly, mindfully. Feel that vibrant, glowing energy infuse your body from the inside out.
4. Sip Cinnamon Tea at Sunrise
Greeting the sunrise on Midsummer morning is a lovely way to honor the light. Cinnamon, with its warmth and spice, is a solar herb that harmonizes beautifully with this time of year. Brew a cup of cinnamon tea (or coffee, if that’s more your style) and sip it as the sun rises. Let the heat awaken you to the day’s magic.

5. Light an Orange or Yellow Candle
Sometimes the simplest spells are the most powerful. Light an orange or yellow candle and speak this little Midsummer blessing:
As I greet the sun’s bright light,
I welcome the expanding night.
May I be blessed on this long day,
May I be blessed in every way.
Feel gratitude and let the candle burn for a while. Bask in the glow, imagining your wishes and intentions soaking up the sun’s radiant energy.
