Magic from the May Queen’s Grimoire.
Beltane, also known as May Day, is a major Pagan holiday that sparkles with joy, fertility, sexuality, pleasure, flowers, fae energy, and all things green and growing.
Falling halfway between the Vernal Equinox and the Summer Solstice, it’s traditionally a fire festival—celebrating the rising tide of life, the heat of passion, and the ever-brightening sun.
It’s also a time to celebrate the sheer magic of celebration itself. Think: a party in honor of partying. Spring Break, but make it enchanted.
Magically speaking, Beltane is a potent time for manifesting, co-creating, and drawing delightful new experiences into your life.
Here are some spells that are perfect for Beltane, as well as the days just before or after. Do any (or all) that resonate with your spirit.
P.S. For those of you in the Southern Hemisphere this May 1st, here’s a bunch of Samhain inspiration for you.

Sweet Rose Love Potion
Make this potion for yourself to draw a romance. Or, make it for yourself and a partner to spark the flames of an existing one.
Ingredients: a pink candle, food grade dried rose petals or rose tea, honey, water, muslin tea bag or tea infuser, mug(s)
Put on the kettle and light the pink candle. Take a few deep breaths to relax your body and center your mind.
Put some dried rose petals or rose tea in a tea infuser or muslin bag, and place that in your mug. (Do this for one mug or two.) As you’re waiting for the water to boil, hold your hands over the mug(s) and envision bright white light coming down from the sky and into the crown of your head. Also envision bright golden light coming up from the earth and into your feet. Imagine these two channels of light coming together in your heart and then moving down through your arms and hands and into the dried roses, awakening their magic.
Once the water boils, pour it over the roses in your mug(s). Steep for 3-5 minutes. While the tea is steeping, direct your palms toward the tea and invoke the Goddess by saying:
“Great Goddess, May Queen, I invoke you. Infuse this potion with your wild magic. Bring me [or bless our] magical romance and passionate love. Sweeten our hearts and ignite the fire of attraction between us. Thank you.”
Remove the rose petals from the mug(s). Add a sweet finishing touch by scooping a little honey into each cup and stirring in a clockwise direction.
By candlelight, mindfully enjoy. If you’re by yourself, smile and imagine your adorable new love is with you now and it feels amazing. If you’re with your partner, simply enjoy being with each other as you drink. Feel free to laugh, talk, and connect as you normally would.
In both cases, feel your heart opening, your body relaxing, and the love pouring through.

Green Flame Abundance Charm
Draw upon the combined magic of greenery and flame to grow your finances and fire up your income.
Ingredients: a green candle and holder, a fresh mint leaf, a dollar bill, gold ribbon or thread
Light the candle. Relax, breathe, and center your mind.
Hold the mint leaf in your open palms and imagine sparkly golden-white light coming down from above and making it sparkle.
Roll it up in the dollar bill like a little scroll, making sure to roll toward yourself. Tie it with the gold ribbon or thread.
Hold the charm so that it’s warmed and illuminated (but not singed) by the candle flame.
Three times, say: Like mint grows and fire spreads, my money and finances expand.
Feel the comfort and satisfaction of looking at your bank balance regularly and seeing an increasingly high number. Smile as you expand into the certainty that you are already incredibly wealthy. Behave and truly feel that this is already so.
Feel gratitude and thank the Goddess and God.
Extinguish the candle.
Keep the charm in your wallet or purse or near where you keep track of your finances.

Bubbles of Joy Ritual
To summon more joy, do this alone or with one or more family members or friends. This would be a good one to do with your kid(s).
Ingredients: bubble solution with bubble blower (enough for each participant), joyful music, a rattle or bell
Before you begin, choose some invigorating music to accompany this ritual. It can be any genre that feels right to you, as long as it’s uplifting and gives you a feeling of wellbeing. Meditation music would be great, but you might also choose something that makes you want to dance. Follow your intuition on this one, and let the selection process be part of the magic.
Before opening it, hold the bubble solution in both hands. Set your intention aloud by saying, With each bubble I [we] blow, I [we] summon more joy. Our hearts lighten and our spirits lift. Then, ring the bell or shake the rattle to raise a little energy.
(If you’re doing this ritual with kids, you could have them repeat after you, or you could write down the words and have everyone read them together. But make sure you all put your heart into it. You might need to coach everyone to “say it again, with feeling!” Remember to ring the bell or shake the rattle after you say it each time.)
Now, put the music on and blow some bubbles. Also feel free to skip, dance, or sing.
Feel the joy flowing in.

Light of Renewal Healing Spell
As the daylight expands and the sun’s power grows, perform this spell to bring healing to your body, mind, and heart. You can use this for general healing or for healing something specific, like an injury, illness, or mental health challenge. (I am going to use it to reinforce the body image healing I’ve been doing lately.)
Ingredients: white candle, spring water, a glass or glass bowl, a clear quartz point, and a few fresh lavender blossoms (white or pink rose petals will also work if you can’t find fresh lavender)
Do this spell on a sunny day on or near Beltane, outside if possible, or near a sunny window.
First take a moment to breathe consciously and calm your mind.
Light the candle and say, Great Goddess, I invoke you.
Fill the glass receptacle half or three quarters full with the spring water.
Hold the quartz in sunlight and say, Power of the Sun, I greet you. Then place it in the receptacle along with the water.
Ever-so-slightly crush the blossoms (or petals) between your fingers and say, Soothing blooms, lend your magic. Inhale the scent of the blooms. Then drop them in the bowl as well.
Dunk the fingers of one hand in the water and anoint your belly with it. Say, Heal my body.
Dunk your fingers in the bowl again and anoint your forehead. Say, Heal my mind.
One more time, get some water from the bowl and anoint your heart center area. Say, Heal my heart.
Say, God, Goddess, All That Is, on this day of growing greenery and light, I ask that you heal me. Heal my body. Heal my mind. Heal my heart. Thank you.
Smile and feel the healing light of the sun and the vital energy of the green and growing things infusing you. Sense you are getting stronger and more aligned.
Take the water outside and pour it out, along with the flowers, around the base of a plant or tree. You can keep the crystal in your collection for future use.

Bonfire Candle Wish Boost
Not everyone can dance around an actual bonfire at Beltane, but we can summon the magic of one on our altar with this nice little spell.
Ingredients: a red or orange candle, incense and holder (ylang ylang, jasmine, orange, and orange blossom would all be good choices).
Place the candle and incense on your altar or another flat surface and sit comfortably in front of it.
Relax with a few long, deep breaths.
Light the candle as you say, This is the Beltane bonfire.
Light the incense too. Tune into the purifying, enlivening magic of the flame and the smoke.
Directing your voice toward the flame, whisper or say, Goddess, on this magical day, please grant me this wish.
Now, speak your wish aloud, in the present tense, as if it’s already true. So, like, I love my job so much, instead of I wish I could find a job I love.
Feel the flame and the smoke enlivening your wish.
Smile and speak your wish aloud again, and you will notice there is more of a resonance to it – it feels and sounds even truer this time.
Repeat as many times as you like, sensing how the Goddess and the Beltane fire keep adding momentum to your wish each time you speak it. Sense how you are pulling this condition toward you with the intense, fire-fueled magnetism of your feeling and belief.
Finally, speak it one last time, with total satisfaction and delight.
Feel so much gratitude and say, Thank you, thank you, thank you. Blessed be. And so it is.
