Tess!!! So happy to see you and hear your voice again!!
Social media is such….a monster. A little over a year ago my husband and I (mostly me because my husband never posted anything online) decided to stop posting pictures of our kids online. Even Facebook where I thought it was safe because my profile is private and just for people I know and love in real life. But nothing is really private or safe in the internet.
We also talk a lot in my household about how much time we loose just scrolling. What do we really get out of it? I feel like influencers, even people with good intentions, all make us try to be the same. Look the same. Ship the same outfits. Have the same bland house.
My husband got me a keyboard to learn to play music with for Christmas. To show my children that learning skills is what’s beautiful. That trying new things is exciting. That Doing something with our time is what’s important, not just sharing pictures or reels or anything like that.
BUT that being said I’m very excited to watch any video you feel called to share. When I think of some of my happiest times, I remember years ago working a retail job and I’d wake up at 5am to watch a video on your channel as I had coffee and got ready for work – you were like my news lol. And I miss being able to listen to them again because they were beautiful and elegant.
Aww, Divina, great to hear from you! Thank you for the encouragement and for getting where I’m coming from with social media. Also, you inspired me: I just made a lot of my old videos public again on YouTube.
Hi, Tess!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful new deck with us! Like you, I am a huge fan of “love and light” decks but lately, especially this past year, I’ve been feeling like I needed a “tough love” deck to give me a different perspective and empower me to set boundaries without guilt and have confidence without fear. I didn’t know this was what I was missing until seeing your video. Speaking of videos… I missed your YouTube videos so much! I have been a follower of your work since 2018, and your books, guided meditations, and videos have gotten me through so many challenges over the past 8 years (and also helped me appreciate the good times). Totally agree on social media, I have been engaging a lot less on all platforms when I realized how depleted it was making me feel. As a creator and author of a blog I totally understand the feelings of pressure to churn out content, but I keep going back to reminding myself why I started. I am so looking forward to seeing more of your videos in 2026… I actually got a little emotional when you posted this one! Thank you for being such a light for so many of us who love your work!
Stefanie, this is such a sweet message to receive! Thank you for all these kind words. I’m excited that you’re excited about The Oracle of the Vampire Fae! If you feel drawn to it from the images, I know you will love it.
That deck looks GORGEOUS!!! I’m really digging the energy too — I’ll pick up one when I have a chance!
Thank you for sharing your decision to post on YouTube again. I know in recent weeks I’ve considered curating my YouTube because I’ve seen enough stuff setting me that made me go “I’m done for right now”. The only thing I do now is post my shorts, but I just go directly to YouTube Studio for that. The beautiful thing about YouTube is the ability to share videos with the world. While there are other platforms like Vimeo, it doesn’t hit the same as YouTube.
I love creating too. 🥹 The vulnerability sometimes has scared me away from sharing, but goodness, it feels amazing to share regardless of the response.
Kelly, thank you for your kind words about the deck. Thank you also for validating my feelings about being away from YouTube and also coming back. And I’m glad you know what I mean about creating and vulnerability. It’s worth it but sometimes it’s overwhelming. It’s a practice.
I have my YouTube on restricted mode. You cannot see the comments or comment because of that. It also blocks mature videos. YouTube is the only platform I use, like you said, to find out how to do home and car maintenance and I follow three channels I really love, one reiki, one apothecary, and one who creates beautiful videos. I also use the screensavers on my TV, I love calmed by nature bc of no ads and the witchy one I think it’s called something of night? 😂 Anyway, restricted mode is an option for people! It’s under settings. I do not like any other social media and haven’t used it for years and I am happy about that! I am pretty weird about what I consume, even books. I also do not usually look at the news! It’s honestly worth a try to see how you feel if someone reading this has never done it but it does feel strange at first, it’s an addiction.
Brooke, this is a great tip – thank you! And it’s good to know you are on my page with social media.
