This is part 2 of a 4-part series that challenges you to leverage the energies of this Mercury Retrograde period for healing, harmony, and personal evolution.
This month (May 2022), Mercury goes retrograde in the morning on Tuesday, May 10th. Our last full day before it goes direct early the following morning is Thursday, June 2nd.
This Mercury Retrograde challenge will be presented as a four part series. This is part two, covering May 17th-23rd. See part one here. See part three here.
Let’s quickly review. Participating in this challenge is a way to get out of resistance to this natural astrological occurrence so we can flow with it in the most harmonious and beneficial possible way.
Remember: I’m writing this DURING Mercury Retrograde. And do I feel spacey? Yes. I feel spacey. So please excuse any errors or typos. Or let me know about them in the comments below.
Oh yeah, and I’d be delighted if you’d use the hashtag #24daymercuryretrogradechallenge if you feel like posting on social media.
Ok, here we go.
Day 8: Tuesday, May 17th
Revisit Your Travel Goals
I’m not telling you to make travel plans, which I know is traditionally considered to be a Mercury Retrograde no-no. (Although that’s never stopped me before and I have no regrets.) Rather, I’m recommending that today, you revisit your travel goals. Where do you most want to go in the world? It’s possible that for a good long while you’ve wanted to go to Italy more than anywhere else, but now – what do you know? – you discover you’re more excited about Chile or Spain or Dubai.
To get clear, make a list. Include roadtrips and domestic trips you want to take as well as foreign countries you’d love to see. That way, the next time you get the opportunity to plan a trip, you’ll have some ideas in mind.
Plus, writing things down has magical powers. I’m reminded of this again and again during moments when I stumble upon old lists of goals and desires and notice that – wow! – every single one of them has manifested.
Day 9: Wednesday, May 18th
Clean and Clear Your Workspace
At work or at home or both, find a space where you tend to do a lot of work. Then clear clutter from this area and give it a good clean. As you do this, know that you’re symbolically and energetically clearing the way for clarity, harmony, and success.
Day 10: Thursday, May 19th
Roll Up Loose Change
Today you’ll be doing some everyday money magic. Rolling up loose change gets you in direct, physical contact with the energy of money. Rounding up your currency overflow and putting it in order (that was another way of saying rolling up loose change in case it wasn’t clear) harmonizes your prosperity consciousness and clears the way for even more wealth to flow.
I just love the simple elegance of this single magical act.
Day 11: Friday, May 20th
Donate Old Books
Make way for fresh new ideas and perspectives today! Do this by getting rid of all the books you’ll never open again.
Remember: there are more books than you’ll ever be able to read in one lifetime. (What glorious abundance!) So get very honest with yourself. For example, I can count on one hand, with fingers left over, the number of novels I’ve read more than once in my life. I also keep very few nonfiction and reference books. Because if I don’t want to actually refer to it again, why should I let it take up valuable space on my shelf?
So clear the shelf and share the wealth. Pass along those books you no longer need and make room for some sparkly-new inspiration replenishment.
Day 12: Saturday, May 21st
Cleanse with Sage Smoke
Make room for new conditions and attitudes by removing old stagnant vibes, worn out thought patterns, and the leftover residue of past emotions by cleansing your space with sage smoke today.
First, if weather permits, open all your windows. If it’s practical, also open your doors. Safely, safely, (say it with me) safely – please, I beg you, let’s not start any fires – light a bundle of dried white or desert sage so it’s smoking like incense. Carry a dish or a plate underneath it and move through each room and area of your home in a roughly counterclockwise direction, allowing the smoke to waft around as you go.
For those of you with sensitivities, sensitive animal friends, or sensitive fire alarms, you can alternatively use a selenite wand (just wave it around the space with the intention to clear and harmonize the energy) or an aromatherapy spray containing sage, clary sage, rosemary, and/or lavender. (Of course, you’ll still have to be mindful of certain sensitivities and pets with the latter.)
Day 13: Sunday, May 22nd
Take a Sea Salt and Lavender Bath
Cleanse, reset, and recharge your energy today (and celebrate officially being halfway through this Mercury Retrograde!) with a relaxing lavender and sea salt bath. Before getting in, dissolve 1/4 cup sea salt in the water. Also add a bit of fresh or dried lavender blossoms or a few drops of essential oil of lavender. Then light a candle and soak. Be sure to stay hydrated with plenty of drinking water.
For those of you without a bathtub, you can diffuse essential oil of lavender in the bathroom as you shower and use a salt scrub in lieu of body wash or soap.
Day 14: Monday, May 23rd
Do a Chakra Clearing Meditation
Follow up on the deep cleansing and harmonizing activities of the last couple of days by doing a meditation to clear and align your chakras. If you know how to do this on your own, great. If you don’t, I have a guided chakra clearing meditation you can do here. You can also find an abundance of guided chakra clearing meditations on many of the meditation apps, like Insight Timer. Just use the search feature.
Next week’s challenge activities are now up! See them here.
Don’t forget to chime in below to let me know how you’re doing and how this Mercury Retrograde period has been going. Thanks again for joining me for the challenge!
MY RETROGRADE IS GOING AMAZINGLY WELL. IT HAS BEEN LIKE IT IS SWIMMING WITH THE CURRENT IN A RAGING RIVER.
Ceri, exactly! Me too, 100%.
