3 Spells from the Magic Spells Oracle
Boost your luck, increase your youthfulness, or visit with your ancestors in a dream.
This is excerpted from the Magic Spells Oracle by Judika Illes. I (Tess) adore Judika’s writing and I’m honored to once again feature it here on my blog.
Magical energy is an inherently positive energy, so powerful and benevolent that it empowers everything it impacts. Just being in its presence is beneficial.
A spell can help you achieve a specific goal–for example, more money, or a better job–but a spell’s ultimate gift is to help you tap into your own magic powers. I cannot tell you that doing so will make everything easy–that’s not how life works, and sometimes the most beautiful destinations are only accessed via the rough road–but it will make life magical. Your capacity for joy, beauty, and pleasure will be enhanced.
Magic spells are always cast for a purpose, even if it’s a generic one like “personal happiness,” the proverbial “peace on Earth,” or obtaining vague “good fortune.” However, the more specific your desire, the more likely it is that your spell will work. Select your words carefully as you articulate your goal. Take your time. As part of the process, visualize the goal of your spell realized. If you are casting a healing spell, “see” yourself healthy and strong. If it’s reconciliation with a loved one, “see” the two of you together happily. This will increase the likelihood of success.

Spell 1: Lucky Bat Spell
The bat holds a significant place within many cultures, including Aztec, Chinese, Romany, and more. The Chinese word “fu” means “bat” as well as “luck” and “happiness,” and these auspicious creatures are often associated with luck and good fortune.
Bats’ inherent luck is intensified by incorporating the luckiest of numbers and colors into the spell: an image of five red bats draws good fortune. Post the image prominently where it can radiate its power and draw good fortune toward it. Draw or embroider the image, while focusing on your desires, to help manifest your goals. Alternatively, place five red stone bats in a red charm bag, charge with your desire, and carry in your pocket.
Spell 2: Emerald Longevity Spell
Associated with the Earth element, the green emerald possesses powers of fidelity, love, longevity, and wealth.
Emeralds allegedly inhibit decay; wear them to preserve your youthfulness. If you don’t have access to real emeralds, add emerald gemstone essence to your bath to receive magical benefits. Alternatively, rub a drop into the thin skin that stretches between your thumb and first finger.
Spell 3: Ancestor Summoning Dream
Ancestors are our most trusted spiritual allies.
Ancestors frequently communicate with us in dreams. Sometimes they approach us first, but you can summon them if you seek information or protection. You do not need to know their names. Murmur your request over a glass of water and place it beside your bed. For a little extra power, add a spoonful of anisette or sambuca. Do not drink this: it’s a method of summoning and intended for the dead. Record your dream or whatever you remember as soon as you awake. Toss the contents of the glass away. Repeat as desired.
