Normalize Awkwardness

For the sake of authenticity and true connection, we’ve got to just admit it: human relationships are characterized by awkwardness.

Did this video inspire you to go ahead and embrace the awkwardness of being a human? Please share your reactions and questions in the comments below.

I remember that my parents never gave up on trying to forge relationships and connections with anyone. Despite their limited English, my parents made every effort to befriend as much people as they could. Despite racism and robbery and fear of attacks, my parents told me that all humans are of God. They also said that just because some do bad it doesn’t mean everyone hates. We just gotta not give up. One Xmas my dad decided to make a big garden celebration inviting our neighbors and my friend’s families. It was beautiful and unforgettable. Everyone showed up with their foods and the meal was multicultural. All the grown ups spoke different language from my parents. My mom always smiled softly and told me that even if her English is clumsy, she enjoyed interacting with people. She said that it would be lonely if we were to close ourselves off in fear. I was amazed at how brave my parents were.
