Loved what you said about the “embers” September, October, November,December, tying into the phoenix energies. I remember as a little girl how I loved the winter season when everyone didn’t. I loved the coziness of our warm home, my mom preparing nourishing hot soups and stews, celebrating the various traditions of our ancestors. I always felt like there was a shift to rest, transition to the next season. Even the air, the scenery, the sounds carried a different resonance. I tried to explain to others but I was considered odd. For asian families the days leading up to New Years is very important and busy, so it is important for a period of rest during fall end and winter beginning. Xmas shopping is never relaxing but done earlier to avoid exhaustion. My mom decorated home and wrapped gifts simple and elegant, to avoid stressing and being mindful of spending. She made some of the gifts using whatever we had, imparting her love into it. Everyone remembered and loved her Asian pickled veggies and baked goods. For me she saved up and purchased early or made the most beautiful coats and clothing that I wore till they gave out or couldn’t fit anymore, it felt like magic imbued in all these personal touches. All these rituals and memories of winter brings me joy and a hint of the somber reminder that eras and time moves on. It reminds me to enjoy and make the most of now, flowing in the seasons of life.
