Dear Tess, I have done quite a few of your wonderful meditations – off your website and out of your great books. Especially the shielding and boundary setting meditation featured above. Thank you so much for sharing your light. A question though: I was nearly run over by a bunch of young men in front of the train station, who let me know that a red light isn’t red for them. Instead of just walking on – the sensible thing to do – I started a big cursing match with them. Not a smart thing to do. Neither healthwise nor energetically. Do you have any helpful insights on how to handle one of those situations? Quick meditation? All the best to you and blessed be. Alex
Aww, Alex, I’m so sorry this happened! It’s only natural that you would be upset. After a tense situation, I like to take a sea salt and Epsom salt bath to detoxify energetically while also relaxing. Do you have a bathtub?
Dear Tess, yes – I have a tub and I´ve used it for quite a few of your great bath magic rituals (getting grapefruit out of the drain is not funny ;)). I should have done that straight off. But my question really is – when one knows to be triggered into a choleric outburst how to ground oneself quickly? Thanks so much.
Alex, I see! I suggest self-compassion. Dr. Kristin Neff wrote a book about it called (wait for it) Self-Compassion, and it’s so, so good. In such a case, for example, you might place your hand on your heart, take some deep breaths, and look at the situation as if it had happened to a beloved friend or family member. In which case, you wouldn’t discount their feelings. You would say, like, “Of course you’re angry! Of course you’re scared! And now I see that you’re suffering, which is something all humans experience, and which is completely natural in this situation.” Then you would be kind to yourself and send yourself love.
