Solar Eclipse Ritual for Busting Through Blocks and Setting Your Soul Free

Liberate yourself with this simple and inspiring solar eclipse ritual.

Solar Eclipse Ritual

A solar eclipse is an opportunity to break old chains, step out of old patterns, and fly free into beautiful new paradigms.

Here’s an elegantly simple solar eclipse ritual to supercharge the blessings of this powerful time. It will help you release the old, embrace the new, and set your soul free.

It’s best to do this ritual as close to the moment of the solar eclipse as possible.

Ingredients:

One gray votive candle (with holder if it’s not in a jar already)
One white votive candle (with holder if it’s not in a jar already)
Lighter or matches

A few minutes before the eclipse, sit comfortably and center yourself. Place the gray candle on your altar or a flat surface in front of you. Feel that it represents old heaviness and stuck energy in your life, as well as anything you no longer want, and anything that no longer serves or defines you.

At the moment of the eclipse, blow the gray candle out. Feel and sense that all power and momentum has been removed from these things in your life. Just for this moment, release all worries and fears. Release the sense that any of this old stuff has any power over you. Tap into a deep sense of inner stillness, quiet, and calm.

After a minute or so, remove the gray candle from your altar and replace it with the white one.

Light the white candle, which represents personal freedom and infinite joy. As it burns, imagine rainbow sparkles showering down on you, filling you with the energy of luck and new beginnings. Feel the euphoria and lightness of experiencing your most beautiful vision for your life. Feel as if it’s already 100% present and real. And feel gratitude.

Allow this candle to continue to burn for as long as you can keep an eye on it for the purpose of fire safety. As it burns, it would be a good idea to engage in self-loving activities such as dancing, baking, taking a bath, relaxing with a book, journaling, painting, or anything else you really love to do.

When it’s good and cool, remove the gray candle from the holder and throw it away.

  1. I’m letting go of fear and embracing the divine. I’ve also watched a lot of Navajo eclipse videos on YouTube so I’ll also be doing some of those other activities after! I’m going to write some poetry in gratitude of the Sun. Thanks for being your beautiful self. I am always super pumped when I see an email for your newsletter.

  2. Hi Tess,

With this ritual would it be OK to make a list of everything you want to leave behind and/or clear blockages and leave it under the Grey candle and possibly a separate list of things you want to welcome in for under the white candle?

I ask cause feeling and directing the energy is easy but the visulizing with focus always seems to be hard for me.

    1. Raven, sorry for the delayed response! I’ve been in the middle of transformation for sure. (Moving across country since the eclipse Monday!) But yes, if your intuition nudged you to do it the way you mentioned, that would be great.

      1. No worries about the late reply, life happens and we should never be apologetic or feel guilty for that!

Thank you for your answer on the list. I actually did that and I’m so glad I did. Still dealing with a lot of bumbs in the road but that is also part of life. Things will improve.

Moving across country sounds fun and exciting! I hope it goes well for you and you and yours can find well timed moments for self care and positive things amongst the chaos!

  3. Hi Tess, thank you very much, i am releasing and letting go of a 15 year relationship with a man who has betrayed me, I am releasing all the memories and pain and trauma caused to my soul.

  4. Thank you! My Angels are nudging me, with love of course, to do this regarding a certain situation that needs to end! Thank you so much!

  6. Hi Tess!
I have to work during the eclipse but I would really like to perform this ritual. Can I do it the morning of the eclipse? Which will be several hours before it begins. Or can I do the first part with the black candle in the morning and the second part with the white candle at night when I return home?
    Thanks!
    Ana

  7. Should the lighting of the first candle be when the eclipse first begins or closet to when it’s in it’s totality?

    1. Hi Jennifer! Thanks for reading! The lighting of the first candle happens a few minutes before the eclipse. Then blow it out during the eclipse. The second candle is for after the eclipse is over.

  8. Thank you for sharing this , I can so feel the new beginnings ,already doors are opening L&L ??

  9. I can’t wait to start my journey and to learn new things. I’m really excited. Thank you for allowing me to join.
