Cleanse your personal energy field with one of these 10 simple aura cleansing techniques.
Your aura is your personal energy field. When it’s clear, you feel safe, energized, and spiritually protected. Your emotions feel balanced. And it’s easier to manifest the things you desire.
Luckily, aura clearing can be quick and not too difficult to do.
Here are ten of the simplest and most effective aura cleansing techniques.
Aura Cleansing Technique #1: Take a Shower or Bath
When you set the intention to cleanse your energy field right along with your physical body, your shower or bath will become a powerful (and convenient!) aura cleanser.
The movement of shower water and the negative ions generated remove undesirable energy from your aura while simultaneously enlivening your energy field. Sea salt baths draw out physical and energetic toxins and help relax you deeply so Divine energy can flow through your field in a balanced way.
Aura Cleansing Technique #2: Creative Visualization
Taking just 5-10 minutes to clear your aura through relaxation and functional creative visualization is an amazing way to refresh your vibe, energy levels, and outlook.
Aura Cleansing Technique #3: Smudge Yourself with Sage
A beloved old aura cleansing standby involves giving yourself a good smudge with a bundle of dried white sage.
If you’re not already familiar with the practice, light the bundle so that it’s smoking like incense. Then, safely waft its smoke around your body and energy field. Be sure to hold a dish under it to catch any burning embers.
Aura Cleansing Technique #4: Employ a Selenite Wand
Selenite is a gorgeous mineral that draws out negative energy and blocks while simultaneously bringing your chakras into greater alignment.
To cleanse your aura, wave a selenite wand around your energy field as if you are lint-brushing the area about 6 inches away from your skin. Move it in a steady downward motion, then flick it out at the bottom as if you’re flicking water off of it.
It’s a good idea to keep your selenite wand in a sunny window to keep its energy clear and positive. Selenite is one crystal you should never run under water, as it will slowly but surely dissolve.
Aura Cleansing Technique #5: Stand in the Wind
When it’s windy out, cleanse your aura by simply standing outside facing the wind, arms outstretched. Close your eyes and let the wind whip around you, removing and transforming challenging and stuck energies into pure positivity and exhilaration. This is particularly effective on a sunny day.
Aura Cleansing Technique #6: Ring a Chime
A chime with a nice, clear, resonant ring is an aura cleansing wonder. As you ring the chime, see and sense its sound current moving through your field, shifting your energy to one of greater clarity, harmony, and balance. Repeat until you feel clear, bright, and harmonized.
Aura Cleansing Technique #7: Bathe in Sunlight
A modest amount of sunlight is actually a positive thing! In addition to providing us with a ton of health benefits, spending a small amount of time in the sun is highly energetically purifying. Just try bathing in bright sun for five minutes and not feeling like your aura has been thoroughly cleaned, cleared, and detoxified.
Aura Cleansing Technique #8: Hold Himalayan Salt Stones
Often used in massage, Himalayan salt stones are aura cleansing powerhouses. Simply holding one in each hand during a few minutes of conscious breathing can provide a nice energy clearing and tune-up.
Aura Cleansing Technique #9: Touch the Earth
You can cleanse your aura thoroughly by simply walking barefoot or lying flat on grass, sand, or dirt. Breathe deeply and feel the earth drawing every bit of challenging and negative energy out of your field. (In case you didn’t know, standing barefoot on the earth has lots of other proven benefits as well.)
Aura Cleansing Technique #10: Take a Dunk in a (Clean) Natural Body of Water
Set the intention to clear your aura, then step safely into a clean, fresh, natural body of water. This is nature’s aura cleanser, and you will feel it working immediately.
Did you cleanse your aura with one of these techniques? How did it go?

Thanks for being so comprehensive. After giving birth to my two kids, my wife startedfeel lethargic all the time. She was always sleepy and her mood was always not right. She felt imbalance some where but couldnt describe it. We tried some Reiki course online but it didnt help much. I read a blog somewhere that said crystals could help.. was wondering if anyone could verify that? The article can be found here:

Anyone has got any experience with crystals? Many thanks in advance!

Hi Danny! Is she getting enough sleep? In addition to that, I’d recommend that she consider hiring a holistic nutritionist. My friend Rachel is fantastic: rachelavalon.com.

My wife was feeling the same. Give her a sun bath for 5 minutes on the front and 5 minutes on the Bhk. Do this for a week and see the change. Also a 20 minute meditation would be excellent.

Hello! I don’t know if you can help me with this or not, but for some reason lately, (the past year) I feel surrounded and held down by this increasingly negative energy. All I can see or feel is black around me, and nothing seems to work. Sometimes, I worry that I am going to touch someone or think about someone and transfer this to them! Is there anything I can do? I’ve never felt this way before, and it scares me.
Tess Whitehurst says
Hello Raven! I’m so sorry to hear about this challenge. Have you read my book The Good Energy Book? I recommend reading it and putting it into practice. Let me know if you have any questions along the way.
Raven says
I have not, but I found something that worked. I was making some ”holy water” (purified by the moon and night) for a friend of mine, and as I was praying and speaking while holding the water, I could feel a lot of what I’ve been feeling pouring out, and I walked inside happier than I’ve felt in awhile. It was actually the very night after I left that comment. It was like I knew what to say, and everything I said felt relieving somehow.

Oh that is amazing! So very happy to hear it. 🙂

Hi, Tess!
Thank you for sharing these tips. Would you recommend a sea salt scrub in the shower in lieu of a sea salt bath?
Tess Whitehurst says
Hi Geo! Thanks for reading! And sure, the salt will have an adding clearing effect for sure.
