I’ll admit: I still love burning sage. Still, when it’s time to clear energy – your personal energy or the energy in your home or another interior space – sometimes it’s fun to switch it up.
Below, you’ll find some alternative energy clearing methods – matched with all 12 astrological signs.
Of course, there are no rules for whom can employ what energy clearing method. Feel free to try any or all of these, no matter what your birthday. Still, you might want to start with one that corresponds to your sun, moon, or rising sign.
Alternatively, you could work with the energy of the day. Check today’s moon sign or consider the sign the sun is in, and choose an energy clearing practice that matches.

Love the scents. I love adding crushed floral or herbs to my candles and scented oils and sprays I created to set the mood, clear the space. I love angelic and reiki to energetically cleanse, and charge everything in my home, all the rooms, furniture, food, water, cosmetics, crystals. I’ve always been ultra sensitive to energetic shifts around me, and scents and energy healing bring beauty and enhance all my day to day living. Some days I feel down or have intense visions, I will also work in my garden and the plants and flowers, touching the soil will heal me and help with grounding and integration. It’s a lonely path at times, seeing and knowing what others are unaware of. I even hesitate to share some visions with my husband, because it’ll cause him to be afraid of whatever I saw. I tell my older sister who understands and is strong enough to hear and prepare for whatever possibilities. One of my friends also said that her husband is afraid to know or prepare, and pretends that out of sight out of mind and everything will magically go away.

Thank you so much for all you do. This morning I awoke as usual, went to my desk facing the south side crystals and garden, my cats were peacefully nearby. All of a sudden in the middle of the room, I hear a loud clanking sound of my chimes. I turn to look at the chimes and only one leg out of the 6 is swaying, striking the other still chimes. The entire room has no source of wind or movement, and the other chimes in the directional points are still and quiet. I turn towards my desk by the large glass sliding door window and a wasp was there! I had to get rid of it quickly, to protect myself and my 2 cats. After that was done, the chime’s one leg stopped moving. So I asked who or what moved the one chime leg? I closed my eyes and my image of my guardian angel came up. Then I saw my parent’s anxious faces. I said a prayer of gratitude and the room had warmed up and my cats stayed by my side. I immediately called my husband and told him about the wasp, and one chime leg clanking against the other still chimes. He said “oh, it’s probably your parents still worrying about you.”

Thank you for this! I have asthma and burning anything will bring on an attack. So, while I love Sage, I can’t use it anymore. These different ways to clear space are great. I love the idea of using a rattle or essential oils. Turns out I’m already half way to implementing one of these suggestions. Whenever I go to the grocery store, I also buy flowers. Usually just a simple bouquet, but it brings me such joy (Libra-rising, now it makes total sense to me!). I just need to add the intention that they clear the space as they fill the room with light. Jeannine, I’m so glad you like the post and that it’s helpful! Yes, absolutely you would not want to cleanse with smoke if it brings on an asthma attack. One more tip: if you miss sage, you could also cleanse with sage or clary sage essential oil (in a diffuser or mister of water).
LOVE this!! My Sun sign is Gemini and I’ve always loved Beramot ( inhaling Earl Grey Tea or growing and crushing fresh leaves make me so happy!). Now I know why!
