5 Ways to Fit Magic into Your Busy Life

Even if you don’t have time for a spell or a ritual, you’ll have time for these 5 magical activities.

Tess Whitehurst-Always Time for Magic

Who doesn’t wish they had all the time in the world to soak in herbal baths, walk barefoot in meadows, and whip up sweet, chocolaty love potions?

Nevertheless, the fact is that many of us seem to have a lot to do, a lot of the time.

That doesn’t mean that we have to forsake our magic for our everyday activities!

Our everyday activities can be the magic.

To illustrate, here are five ways you can fit magic into your (possibly very busy) life. Try these ones, or use them as inspiration for discovering your own.

1. Start your day with five magical minutes.Tess Whitehurst-Beverages that Boost Intuition

First thing in the morning, do not turn on your phone and start scrolling. Instead, brew up your favorite morning beverage, light a white candle, and face east while you sit quietly and connect with the magical energies of the Universe. Drink mindfully and focus on the silence and the space between. Let this be a time of emptying out and connecting with the underlying stillness before you go forth into the noise and busy-ness of your day. Let it be a time of listening to the Divine, rather than speaking. (If you have a few extra minutes, you can also take this time to notice the astrological influences of the day, to record your dreams, and/or to write your intentions for the day.) You’ll find that even five minutes of this will turn up the volume on your intuition, calm and focus your mind, and soothe stress throughout the day.

2. Talk to your plants while you water them.Tess Whitehurst - Beauty Juice

Whether you’re watering indoor or outdoor plants, talk to them! Communicating with plants can tune you into your intuition and magical power while also awakening the metaphysical properties of the plants. For example, as you water jasmine plants, you might offer the water as a gift of love and a divine exchange of energy as you think, “Thank you for bringing beauty and sweetness to our home and to our lives.” Then, as you water a cascading, hanging ivy plant, you could think, “Thank you for powerfully protecting and guarding our home, and insuring that only positivity and positive intentions may enter.”

3. Make Your Everyday Beverages into Potions.

Drinking a cup of chocolate mint tea is already awesome. But why not transform it into a sensuality and wealth potion before you drink? This can be as simple as holding the prepared cup of tea in both hands and visualizing very bright, golden white light filling and surrounding it. Even your water can become a potion with a few drops of a flower essence or gem elixir, or even just a visualization or invocation. For example, you might envision green light filling and surrounding your water for healing and heart-opening, blue light for peace, pink light for love, or indigo light for intuition and protection.

4. Turn Waiting into a Spiritual Practice.Tess Whitehurst-Always Time for Magic

Instead of plain old waiting in line at the bank or sitting in traffic, get transcendental. Just as we must exhale to inhale, we must have spaces between things, so we may as well honor them. Instead of feeling impatient or distracting yourself with your phone, try noticing the infinity of the sky and the silence between the sounds. Reaching your consciousness into this endless space, you connect with the wisdom of the cosmos. You’ll also enhance your intuition, soothe stress, and magnify your magical power.

5. End Your Day with (At Least) Five Magical Minutes.

Just as morning is an excellent time to connect with stillness and set intentions, the evening is a great time to reflect and give thanks. Prepare a relaxing cup of chamomile or rooibos tea, light a candle, and think about all that you’ve accomplished today. If you notice mistakes that you’ve made, forgive yourself for them and imagine releasing them into a cauldron of light (like in this meditation), where they are transformed into positive lessons and love.

Get in the habit of living magically every moment of every day, and watch your life blossom.

I grew up with all these suggestions. But being rebellious as a youth I scoffed at my parents. Now I am doing the same things they were doing. My daughter now impatiently rolls her eyeballs at me and goes “oh mama!” I remember my mother watering her garden and singing and telling the plants how beautiful they were and how grateful she was to all. I remember the prayer meditation twice a day. I remember them blessing all foods and drinks created and partaken in. My parents believed that if you send intentions of love to even an inanimate object , it’ll be infused with power and return the favor to protect and help you in times of need. I remember the house smelling of fragrant incense. Most of all my parents didn’t believe in rushing or aggressively trying to make a deadline or forcing any situation to conform. They simply said that waiting was a chance to go inward ,gain wisdom, and the universe would gently flow towards our goals. Funny thing was that where our ancestry was from, had the highest rate of longevity, fertility and lowest rate of illness. All of the rituals were a natural part of my parent’s culture.

Love these ways to make every day magical.
This might be nitpicking, but if you faced East in the morning where would you face in the evening?
Thank you so much for all of this!

Hi Crystal! West would be appropriate in the evening to align with the direction of the sunset and to honor the successes and blessings of the day.
