Minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, week by week, this adds up to a major confidence boost, which has vastly positive effects on your overall success.

Especially for businesses, when the front door is hidden or finding it is the least bit confusing, it poses a major feng shui challenge. The same is true for your home – in a less dire but still significant way. And enhanced confidence must not be underestimated when it comes to stepping into greater and greater levels of success. Here’s a fundamental feng shui truth: imagery is powerful. If an image portrays constructiveness and connection, it will foster these qualities in your life and work. Look at all the artwork and imagery in your home or business to make sure it reinforces – and certainly doesn’t detract from – a feeling of success. Whether it’s figurative or abstract, ask yourself: “If I had to tell a story about this picture or sculpture, what would it be?” To reinforce your goals, dreams, and desires, make sure all your stories about your artwork are stories you’d like to be true about your life.

The old proverb, “A person without a smiling face must not open a shop” holds true to this day. After all, what is success if not offering a service that in some way brings blessings to other people? Have you ever noticed the waving cats at many Asian restaurants? Those are depictions of Maneki Neko, the fortune-beckoning cat. Similarly, Indian shops and eateries sometimes display Ganesh, the elephant-headed deity who removes obstacles and clears the way for success; or Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and luxury. But even things like meditating frog statues, cheerful garden flags, or the inflatable dancing men often seen in front of car dealerships are success greeters, as they cheerfully welcome in people, positive energy, and prosperity. Feng Shui Success Tip #9: Cover your television and turn your phone off periodically.

When your TV is off, its vacant black screen beckons you to turn it on. This encourages excess TV watching, which in turn discourages the hard work and focus required for success. So hide your television with a tapestry, a divider screen, a curtain, or a television lift cabinet. Similarly, constant awareness of the potential for communication and entertainment from your phone disrupts both focus and creativity. For creativity, your brain needs periods without your phone so it can ruminate and go deep. For focus, your brain needs periods without your phone so it can stay engaged in what you’re doing and locked into whatever singular task you are required to complete. So put your phone on airplane mode or turn it off altogether, and then put it in the other room (or at least completely out of sight), particularly when you are hard at work on a project during which you don’t want to be disturbed.
