Increase your success with these 9 powerful feng shui cures.
These simple practices will position you for greatness and clear the way for accomplishment, achievement, and positive progress in your business, career, and life.
1. Make sure your address numbers are visible and attractive.
Prominent and attractive address numbers allow success and wealth to find you easily. So make sure yours are big and beautiful. Also be sure they are not positioned vertically or angling downward from left to right, as this will bring the attention and energy down. Horizontal or upwardly-slanting numbers have much more positive energy.
2. Sit in the power position.
Can you imagine walking into a CEO’s office and finding him or her seated with their back to the door? Never! When our back is facing the door, it requires an extra second or two (and an extra pain in the neck– literally!) to see who is at the door. When the door is visible from your desk (or really anywhere in your home or business where you regularly spend time), you naturally feel much safer and more in control of your environment. And minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, week by week, this adds up to a major confidence boost, which has vastly positive repercussions for your overall success.
3. Make your front door obvious and welcoming.
Especially when it comes to businesses, when the location of the front door is hidden or confusing, it poses a major challenge to the success of the business. The same is true for your home in a less dire but still significant way. Customers and clients (as well as the unseen energy that fills your home or business with success) like to see, and imagine themselves walking into, a welcoming front door from a considerable distance: ideally the street. This mitigates confusion and enhances the likelihood that helpful people, customers, and success in general will enter your business, home, and/or life. This is one reason painting a door a bright color is a good idea: it makes the door more obvious. Large and/or brightly-colored doormats can also (or alternatively) help with this. If your front door is not easily visible, the next best thing is copious signage that clearly and obviously directs visitors to your door. (Don’t hold back with the arrows!)
4. Clear your clutter.
It may sound mundane, but this is likely the most powerful of all nine tips. Clearing your clutter and staying organized allows sparkling success to flow into your life (and business/career) in perfect ways, every single day. Additionally, clearing the stuff you don’t use, need, or love frees up a ton of time because there is so much less to clean and you spend so much less time searching for things. Not to mention it clears your head and makes you feel exponentially more effective in all life areas. (Overwhelmed by this suggestion? Check out this post about how to get started. 5. Keep it clean.
Similarly, a clean home or business helps keep your mind clear, inspired, and focused. But it does something else too: it enhances your confidence. And enhanced confidence must not be underestimated when it comes to stepping into greater and greater levels of success. (Here are some ways to have fun with cleaning and make it into a magical act.)
6. Display images that depict success.
As I’ve mentioned in this blog many times before, imagery is powerful. So it’s worth taking the time to look at all the artwork and imagery in your home or business to make sure it reinforces (and certainly doesn’t detract from) a feeling of success. Whether it’s figurative or abstract, ask yourself: “If I had to tell a story about this picture or sculpture, what would it be?” To reinforce your goals, dreams, and desires, make sure all your stories about your artwork are stories you’d like to be true about your life.
Yes, I am aware this isn’t technically a feng shui recommendation. I am also aware that it may potentially sound trite. Still, the proverb “A person without a smiling face must not open a shop” holds 100% true to this day. After all, what is success if not offering a service that in some way brings blessings to other people? Let these people know you want to bless them with the universal sign for “I like, welcome, and accept you”: a smile. On the phone, smile with your voice. In written and electronic communication, smile with your phrasing. Upon awakening, smile to the Universe.
8. Consider adding a success greeter.
Have you ever noticed the waving cats at many Asian restaurants? Those are depictions of Maneki Neko, the fortune-beckoning cat. Similarly, Indian shops and eateries sometimes display Ganesh, the elephant-headed deity who removes obstacles and clears the way for success; or Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and luxury. But even things like meditating frog statues, decorative garden flags, or the inflatable dancing men often seen in front of car dealerships are success greeters, as they cheerfully welcome in people, positive energy, and prosperity.
9. Cover your television and turn your phone off periodically.
In addition to being unattractive, the black screen of your television (when off) encourages excess TV watching, which in turn discourages the hard work and focus required for success. So cover your television with an attractive cloth, a divider screen, a curtain, or furniture designed for the purpose. Similarly, constant awareness of the potential for communication and entertainment from your phone disrupts both focus and creativity. For creativity, your brain needs periods without your phone so it can ruminate. For focus, your brain needs periods without your phone so it can stay engaged in what you’re doing and locked into whatever singular task you are required to complete. So put your phone on airplane mode or turn it off altogether, and then put it in the other room (or at least completely out of sight), ideally for hours at a time.
