Spells, Rituals, and Magical Ideas for the Full Moon
When the moon is full, magical energies are at a peak.
That’s why so many spells and rituals include “When the moon is full…” or “Under a full moon…” in their instructions.
The following spells, rituals, and magical activities are especially suited for the unique energetic dynamics at work during a full moon.
1. Call in More Money
The full flowering of the moon’s energy lends itself to magic for expanding and supercharging: this includes your wealth and finances.
That’s why the full moon is a great time to perform a money spell, say affirmations for abundance, and/or position your home’s feng shui to maximize your prosperity.
2. Draw a Romance
The full moon can be incredibly romantic.
The moon’s personality is receptive and emotional. That’s why the full moon helps us open up to romance and call it into our life experience.
Work full moon to call in a new romance or to bless an existing romance with a full moon love spell.
You could also create a love charm, say affirmations for healthy relationships, and/or make sure your home’s feng shui is attuned to the frequency of love.
3. Banish an Unwanted Condition
By virtue of being at its peak of power, the full moon is also the moment when the moon’s energy stops waxing and begins to wane.
This makes it an appropriate time to banish conditions you no longer desire: for example, challenging relationship patterns, stubborn health issues, or anything else you’re ready to bid farewell.
For a simple full moon banishing spell, write words or draw a symbol of that which you’d like to banish from your life experience on a small piece of paper. Roll the paper (away from you) to create a little scroll. Tie up the scroll tightly with twine. Put it in a jar and cover it with sea salt, filling almost the entire jar. Put a found feather on the top of the salt to symbolize the new lightness you will feel. Close the jar and feel the energy from the old condition is completely neutralized and removed from your life experience.
Keep the jar for at least 3 full moon cycles. Then flush the salt down the toilet, burn the scroll, and release the feather to the wind.
4. Empower Your Crystals
The full moon’s bright crescendo of magical power makes it an ideal time to empower your crystals and gems.
You can do this in the light of the sun on the day of a full moon, the light of the full moon itself, or both. Simply spread your crystals out on a white cloth to absorb the light and leave them there for a few minutes to an hour or more.
This will employ the full moon’s magic to cleanse them and refresh their power.
5. Heal Your Relationship with Food and Your Body
The full moon is an excellent moment to let go of old baggage around food and body image.
First, the full moon helps with this by supercharging your intention to heal.
Second, as mentioned, as the pinnacle of the moon’s power, it is naturally also the moment when that power begins to wane.
Similarly, with intention, your disempowering stories around food and your body can wane right along with it, until they disappear.
And, to heal your relationship with food, I recommend picking up this book.

6. Clear and Bless Your Home
Clearing and blessing your home in the form of a full moon ritual is a great idea.
In addition to attuning your home to magical energies and assisting you in setting positive intentions throughout the space, it helps remove negative and unwanted patterns of energy throughout the home.
7. Read the Cards
Whether you prefer oracle cards or tarot cards, a card reading under the full moon is especially powerful. If you’ve never done a reading before, check out this post for advice on how to get started.

8. Work Some Career Magic
Whether you want to manifest a new job, open a business, or bless a career path you’ve already begun, the full moon is an ideal; time for career spells and rituals.
The expansive energies at work lend themselves to magic and manifestation efforts related to upward mobility and positive expansion. (Also success-oriented feng shui.)
9. Solve a Mystery
The full moon is a time when bright light – literally – illuminates the darkness.
Use this magical condition to shed light and clarity on issues that have formerly confused or confounded you.
For example, you might perform a spell to find a lost object, learn the truth about a person’s intentions, or illuminate and activate your unique magical power.
Live your magic by aligning with the beautiful, radiant energy of the full moon.

I did the banish an unwanted condition spell. I did everything exactly. However the jar I used is rather small and I ended up squishing everything inside the jar and I had to cut the feather I found Around the corner after our mailbox station.Do you think it will still work? Should I pour it into a larger jar ?Do I wait for the next full moon? Or should I do the whole spell all over again at the next full moon? I took pictures of the materials. How can I show you? Thank you so much for your time and wisdom.

Hi Petra! I would say this would depend on your feeling about how the spell went. Did it feel effective to you? Or did you feel unsure while you were doing it? If you felt unsure and it didn’t feel totally effective, I would do it again. You don’t have to do it at the next full moon, though, if you are able to do it tonight. (We’re still in the full moon portal.)

Thank you I found a pickle jar in the fridge with just a few baby dills. Washed it and did it again tonight. I started with new paper twine and salt. I opened up the first jar and used the same feather. I used palo santo beforehand. Thank you so much again.

Hello… I’m new to all this but been very intrigued for many years… I didn’t know if there was something I could do I have a bad nerve in my neck that sends a shock down my arms and through my hands all day long the doctor says I need to have a MRI and surgery any suggestions
Tess Whitehurst says
Tonya, that sounds very painful. I suggest working with western medicine, but perhaps you may want to get a second opinion before you decide to move forward with any one treatment. You may also want to see a holistic doctor in addition.

I am going to have to buy myself a new car this week. My volvo was recently hot from behind by an older lady and the insurance company totaled it out. Unfortunately I am on a budget and I’m unable to go buy a brand new car right now. I’m trying to find something under 10k that’s reliable so that I don’t have a payment right now. Is there a simple spell that would help guide me to the perfect car for me? If so, I’d be forever greatful if you’d share it. I really can’t afford to make a mistake and really want to get the right one. But anytime you buy something second had..I feel I’m taking a chance. I know the right one is out there, I just need to find it. Any spell/ritual ideas? TIA~Crystal 🖤
Tess Whitehurst says
Crystal, that’s a great idea for a future post. In the meantime, I’d light a white candle to Archangel Michael and ask for his assistance before you go car shopping. He helps with mechanical/electrical things.

Hello Goddess I’m not sure what I Have Become I pretty much can manifest an do spells that always work like others also reading reads but now…..Im starting to think I’m a witch. Every time I read my car is I come up as a high priestess as in psychic but I’m not sure what to call myself nowadays I’m very confused so I asked Devon for answers and I still don’t understand .
Tess Whitehurst says
It sounds like you are a magical person for sure. If you want to call yourself a Witch and it feels right, do it! Some people prefer the term Lightworker, Magical Practitioner, or Energy Worker. It’s up to you and what feels right to you.
Michelle says
Hello Tess! My young daughter is in a terrible toxic relationship that has been ongoing for a year and a half. It is literally killing her spirit. I performed a binding spell and it did not work. Would the banishing spell be a better path?
Tess Whitehurst says
Michelle, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I do not recommend intervening with magic, except to surround your daughter in protective light. You can also request Divine intervention in helping her heal whatever pattern(s) have attracted this relationship into her life. Interfering with her relationship or free will to choose her relationship will not benefit either of you, and will likely backfire.
