Happy Home Ritual

This spell is from my book, Magical Housekeeping: Simple Charms and Practical Tips for Creating a Harmonious Home.

This is the ritual to do when you’d like to create more harmony and happiness in your home, overcome old, stagnant energy, uncomfortably challenging relationships, and/or chronic discord of any kind. This is also a good one to do to help heal your romantic relationship with a live-in partner if it feels less than harmonious. In some cases, the results might seem a bit more chaotic at first, but know that’s all for the sake of true, lasting harmony. In other words, this is not a Band-Aid cure: buried issues will come to the surface so that they can be sorted out and dealt with in the best possible way.

First, thoroughly clean the house and clear the energy. Then you’re ready to begin.

Ingredients:
Approximately 1/2 cup dried nettles
Approximately 1/2 cup dried elecampane
One orange or peach-colored candle for every room
A small plate or plate-like candleholder for each room
Essential oil of tangerine
Essential oil of neroli
2 tablespoons light olive oil

Assemble all ingredients at an altar or central location. Hold your hands in prayer pose and say:

I now call on Hestia, the goddess of the hearth. I now request your powerful help with this ritual to create harmony and happiness within these walls.

Now hold your hands over the ingredients and feel a deep wellspring of harmony and joy flowing from the top of your head, down to your heart, and out through your hands into the ingredients. You might visualize the ingredients being filled with light. Carve this symbol, the rune Ger (or Jera), into each candle:

(It represents natural balance and the cycles of nature, and it also helps reveal and heal any buried issues and blocks to true harmony.)

Then, in a small container, put 9 drops of each essential oil in 2 tablespoons of olive oil and blend. Anoint each candle with the oil by spreading a thin layer of oil over the entire surface, excluding the base and wick. Place each candle on a small plate and sprinkle a small amount of nettles and elecampane around each base. One by one, place each candle in a room and light it. After you light each candle, hold your hands in prayer pose, and with your eyes closed, say:

Happy, sweet, harmonious, blessed.

When you’re finished lighting all the candles, go back to the central location and say:

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Blessed be. And so it is.

Allow the candles to burn for at least 2 hours, or let them burn all the way down.
