Still, it’s our very own aura (or personal energy field) after all! So it’s good to know how to cleanse said aura. In fact, once you get to a certain point on the spiritual path, the importance of personal aura cleansing becomes tantamount to, say, clipping your nails or brushing your teeth.
Why? Because the spiritual path incrementally sensitizes you to the energetic realm, including your own personal fluctuations therein. A such, it becomes increasingly obvious that you’re like a high-end musical instrument: for Divine energy to flow through you harmoniously, you require regular cleaning and fine-tuning.
Luckily, aura clearing can be quick and not too difficult to do.
Here are ten of the most popular techniques, most of which you can easily work into an average day. (Even a busy one!)
1. A Shower or Sea Salt Bath
Most of us bathe daily (or almost daily), so this one is especially easy to work into your day. Just make sure that you set the intention to cleanse and fine-tune your aura first, and also to envision/sense/feel your aura being cleansed.
In the case of the shower, the movement of the water and the negative ions generated will not just remove negative energy from your aura, but will also enliven your energy field. Sea salt baths, on the other hand, draw out physical and energetic toxins and help relax you deeply so Divine energy can flow through your field in a balanced way.
2. Creative Visualization
Taking just 5-10 minutes to clear your aura through relaxation and functional creative visualization is an amazing way to refresh your vibe, energy levels, and outlook.
3. A Sage Smudge
A beloved old aura cleansing standby: give yourself a good smudge with a bundle of dried white sage. Desert or feather sage is also fabulous for the purpose.
If you’re not already familiar with the practice, this entails lighting the bundle so that it’s smoking like incense and then safely wafting its smoke around your body and energy field. (You’ll probably want to hold a dish under it to catch any burning embers.)
4. A Selenite Wand
Selenite is a gorgeous mineral that draws out negative energy and blocks while simultaneously bringing your chakras into greater alignment.
Wave it around your energy field as if you are lint-brushing the area about 6 inches away from your skin. Move it in a swift downward motion and then flick it out at the bottom as if you’re flicking water off of it.
It’s a good idea to keep your selenite wand in a sunny window to keep its energy clear and positive. And never run it under water, as it will slowly but surely dissolve. (It’s made of gypsum salt.)
When it’s windy out, try simply standing outside facing the wind, arms outstretched. Close your eyes and let the wind whip around you, removing and transforming challenging and stuck energies into pure positivity and exhilaration. This is particularly effective on a sunny day. 6. A Chime
A chime with a nice, clear, resonant ring is an aura cleansing wonder. As you ring the chime, see and sense its sound current moving through your field, shifting your energy to one of greater clarity, harmony, and balance. Repeat until it feels right.
These days, sunlight gets a bad rap. But the truth is, a modest amount of sunlight is actually a positive thing! In addition to providing us with a ton of health benefits, spending a small amount of time in the sun is highly energetically purifying. Just try bathing in bright sun for five minutes and not feeling like your aura has been thoroughly cleaned, cleared, and disinfected.
8. Himalayan Salt Stones
Often used in massage, these babies are spiritual cleansing powerhouses. Simply holding one in each hand during a few minutes of conscious breathing can provide a nice energy clearing and tune-up.
9. The Earth
One can reap amazing benefits by simply walking barefoot on grass or lying flat on the bare earth. Both draw challenging and/or negative energy right out of our field. Plus, physical contact with the earth is instantly calming. (It’s no wonder it has so many proven benefits!)
Now that we’re approaching the summer months (in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway), it will feel that much better to have a dunk in the ocean or a clean, natural stream. And when you do (in addition to cooling off and communing with nature) this will allow you to potently clear and balance your aura. Simply set the intention, and then feel it working.
